The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill
In March of 1989, the Valdez supertanker ran into a reef due to the captains poor decision to leave the bridge at an essential moment. The ship spilled 11 million gallons of oil into Prince William Sound in Alaska, killing and harming wildlife of all kinds. The Exxon Valdez oil spill is one of the largest in the United States, and it is considered to be #1 world wide in terms of environmental damage. The spill damaged about 1,300 miles of shoreline in a very remote and untouched location. Even today, despite cleanup efforts, some beaches still have oil.
